GECA-PROSPECTIVE, a firm specializing in recruitment and Human Resources Management, is recruiting an experienced Communications Officer for Partners for Development (PfD), as part of the implementation of the SAFE-TRADE (Sanitary, Phytosanitary, & Food Safety Enhancement for Benin’s Agricultural Trade) project in Benin, financed by the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture). PfD needs communications support to publicize SAFE-TRADE and write reports for the donor and PfD headquarters in the USA.
Position : Communications Officer
Main duties and responsibilities
- 1. Communication :
- Leads in the development of key promotional messages in consultation with the project team. This includes updating of PfD and SAFE-TRADE fact sheets and development of quality Information Education and Communication (IEC) materials.
- Supports in the production of donor reports and other project information publications.
- Coordination of communication activities and events of PfD/SAFE-TRADE.
- Coordination of the awareness raising campaigns, events, information dissemination workshops, etc. for target groups.
- Leads in development and dissemination of communication materials to relevant stakeholders.
- Develops media outreach strategy that includes increasing the social media reach of SAFE TRADE via Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, etc and coordinates the development of success stories of PfD/SAFE-TRADE.
2. Translation :
- Coordinates the translation (from French to English and vice versa) of PfD/SAFE-TRADE program reports, USDA reports and other reports/publications for the target audience.
- Reviews all applicable documents/reports drafted in English by national staff to ensure that the final document is well written in clear and concise English.
3. Program and Business Development Support:
- Assists program staff with program-related tasks, such as development of training materials and participates in the conduct of training.
- Participates in the research and preparation of trade missions and other program events.
- Supports the documentation management system (hard copy and on network).
- Supports in the taking of high-quality relevant pictures required for production of reports.
- Contributes to the development of proposals by researching targeted products, countries or other development elements. This may include background information on agricultural products and practices, links between topics such as health, nutrition and agriculture, current activities of major donors in Benin, and research on potential proposal opportunities.
Education and experience :
- Master’s degree (BAC+5) in communications or related discipline.
- At least five (05) years of experience in a similar position, including three (03) years in development projects financed by international donors.
- Fluency in both written and spoken English and French.
- Practical knowledge of photography and use of modern cameras in producing high quality pictures in the required format.
- Proficiency in the use of computers and other basic computer report writing programs.
- Experience and portfolio of social media.
